India Travel Guide

Incredible India is the name of an international tourism campaign launched by the Government of India in 2002 to promote tourism in India. Since then, you can see this slogan almost in every travel guide. It accurately describes the emotions of a tourist visiting India. Here are a few facts worth knowing for those planning a trip to India.

India is the seventh largest country in the world by area. It stretches from the snowy Himalayas in the north to the tropical jungles in the south, covering four major climate zones. India is the 1st largest country by population. This country is home to several hundred different nationalities. The inhabitants of India profess Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and Zoroastrianism.

That is why even the best travel guide to India can’t be complete. You could explore India for a lifetime and still find many amazing places worth visiting. You can take an exciting road trip, hang out at the seashore, trek in the mountains, or find yourself in an ashram. Architecture, music, wildlife, even Indian cuisine – there are a lot of very different reasons to visit India.

After years of travel in India, I have a list of must-visit places and tips for first-time visitors.
